BRICKHOUSE FARM ALLOTMENT SITE EXTENSION
Further to the Environment Committee meeting held on 8th June, 2009 where members of the MHHS (Maldon and Heybridge Horticultural Society) had once again expressed concern regarding the removal of trees at the proposed eastern site extension. A report was circulated at the meeting from the Maldon District Tree Officer who expressed the view that the trees in this location were in poor health. The Town Council has offered to plant new trees else where on the site and hold a service of dedication. The Environment Committee was unwilling to delay the project unnecessarily and gave the MHHS until 22nd June to make any further comment.
The grant from the District Council was given on the basis of the development of the whole site.
The options are:
· the trees are removed and new trees are provided by the Town Council to be planted elsewhere on the site and a new dedication ceremony is held
· the tree are left in place and the area is re-designed. This would mean that it would not be suitable for ordinary allotments.
(a) to receive and consider a letter from MHHS.
(b) to agree how the project on the eastern side will proceed.
