AMALGAMATION OF THE MALDON AND BURNHAM CHAMBERS OF TRADE AND COMMERCE
To consider whether the Town Council, as a member of the organisation, wishes to support the amalgamation of the Maldon and Burnham on Crouch Chambers of Trade and Commerce.
Members to note that the AGM of the Maldon Chamber of Trade is being held on Monday, 11th September, 2006, in the Tudor Room, Swan Hotel commencing at 7.30 p.m. therefore coinciding with the Town Council meeting.

GETTING ON - IMPROVING BEHAVIOUR ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Information has been received from Essex County Council regarding safe travel to school for pupils of all ages. The latest addition of "RESPECT - it's Up2U" initiative encourages young people to use school transport responsibly, increase their awareness of the impact of their actions on others and reduce the fear of crime on our communities. A Theatre Company has been commissioned by ECC to develop a theatre piece delivering this message to pupils in year 7. Members are invited to attend a performance at the Plume School on Friday 13th October either from 12.05 to 1.05 p.m. or 2.10 to 3.10p.m. (Please inform the Town Clerk should you wish to attend).
A copy of the "RESPECT - It's Up2U" document will be available for inspection within the office.

EAST ESSEX TRANSPORT FORUM
A request has been received from the Forum for town and parish councils to lobby their local District and County Councillors to obtain grant funding to continue the DengieLink bus service, which will cease on 31 March 2007, after 9 years of government funding.

ESSEX ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL COUNCILS - ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Notification has been received from the EALC regarding the AGM to be held on Wednesday, 20th September, 2006 at The Essex Barn, The Channels Golf Club, Little Waltham commencing at 7.00 p.m. This will be preceded by a presentation at 4.15pm on "Working Together for the Future of Essex" chaired by Cllr John Jowers (ECC). Speakers will include Cllr Ken Cleary (Chairman of NALC) and John Findlay (Chief Executive NALC) (Annual Report 2005/06 herewith)

OFFICE STAFFING LEVELS
At the request of Cllr Savage, to consider whether
a) the Council should reassess its employments practices, when reduced staffing exists;
b) when the Town Clerk is absent, and the remaining staff are required to take on extra responsibility, that they should receive remuneration rather than time off in lieu.
