MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 15TH JUNE, 2004
(copy circulated with the agenda for the Town Council meeting held on 5th July, 2004).
To note that the following amendments were made at that meeting:
Minute 5.5b - End of Year Accounts - second paragraph - the words "from the Chairman" be added after "In response to a question".
Last sentence of the minute to read "Concern was expressed regarding the condition of the murals and it was suggested that, Cllr. Savage view them and a report be submitted to a future meeting."
Resolution (b) to be amended to read "Cllr. Savage to view the murals and arrangements made with the Maldon District Council and a report on their condition be submitted to a future meeting"
Minute 10.2 - Column Repairs - An additional Recommendation (c) should be included stating "a letter be sent to the Town Centre Manager requesting his views on Corporate Sponsorship.
Minute 11.4 - Hire Charges - Recommendation to read "that there be no increase in hire charges for the Town Hall during 2005/06 and the matter be reviewed again in 12 months' time.

LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS
The annual inspection of the Lightning Protection System at the Moot Hall and Plume Building is due and in this respect a quotation in the sum of £178 has been received from WM & RW Bacon Ltd. £11.00 more than last year. It is recommended that the quotation be accepted. (Essex Act 1987 s.48)

TOWN HALL
As a result of the recent heavy rain there were a few locations within the Town Hall where water came in and as a result of this the builders, F.J. Capon have been contacted for a quotation.

NORTH BOUNDARY WALL, ST. MARY'S CHURCHYARD
Further to minute 9 of the Finance & General Purposes Committee meeting held on 15th June, 2004 notification has been received from Richard Jackson Partnership that the cost of a structural inspection and report of the North Boundary Wall, St. Mary's Churchyard will be £250 including expenses but excluding VAT. The Richard Jackson Partnership have undertaken previous inspections of the wall (Local Government Act 1972 s.215).

ST. PETER'S CHURCHYARD
Verbal notification has been received from the Local Heritage Initiative that the Town Council's application for grant funding in the sum of £24,925 to assist with the refurbishment works at St. Peter's Churchyard has been approved. Members will recall that the proposed works will cost in the region of £50,000. The Town Council has £16,000 allocated for this work and the Essex Environment Trust and Maldon District Council have agreed to forward grants of £5,000 each. Including the Lottery Funding there will be a total of £50,925 which will enable the project to proceed and in this respect the matter will be discussed at the Environment Committee meeting to be held on 2 August.

DOWNS LODGE
Further to the meeting of the Downs Lodge Working Party held on 25th May, 2004 to receive and consider:
a) a letter from the Maldon District Council;
b) a paper entitled "Downs Lodge - The Alternative Proposals
Compared" from Cllr. D. Keighley
|

MARKET HILL, MALDON
A letter has been received from a resident of Market Hill, Maldon detailing incidents of vandalism that have occurred over the years to various properties at Market Hill and requesting that the installation of CCTV cameras at Market Hill be considered. Other people that have been contacted include the Police, Maldon District Council and Mr. J. Whittingdale M.P. It is hoped that the views of the Police regarding this matter will be available at the meeting.
